Coming Together for World Homelessness Week

Coming Together for World Homelessness Week

We are very grateful to have incredible partners like Community Solutions who are not only taking on big issues but also proving that they can and will be solved. Thank you for all you do to make the world a more just and safe place and for providing all of the valuable resources for World Homelessness Week below.

About World Homelessness Week
Homelessness is a result of the systems we’ve designed and the decisions we’ve collectively made. Right now, we are seeing that the conversation around homelessness is active and growing — but the focus is often wrong, harmful, and even dangerous. This rhetoric is harming people experiencing homelessness and undermining efforts to solve this critical problem.

Homelessness is a complex problem, so we need to build a solution to match it. Yet, homelessness is solvable. Communities are proving it is possible, and we cannot accept anything less than a future where homelessness is rare and brief. We know it takes a systemic approach that aims to take into account every person experiencing homelessness. We know we must speak the truth louder. Together, we have the power to design new systems and make different decisions.

No single program or person can solve homelessness on their own. Homelessness can be solved if we all take action and hold each other accountable. Solving homelessness takes:

💬 A shared vision.
🤝🏻 Collaboration.
🏘️ Housing solutions.
⚙️ Reimagined systems.
📉 Real-time data.
❤️‍🩹 Empathy.
🙌 All of us.

How to take action to solve homelessness:

  • Join the movement to end homelessness. Download Community Solutions advocacy toolkit to make a difference during #WorldHomelessnessWeek.
  • Visit www.builtforzero.org and see whether your community is a part of the Built for Zero movement
  • If your community is a part of Built for Zero, reach out to your mayor or county executive — on social media, letter, phone — and thank them for being a part of #BuiltforZero. Ensure that they understand this is a problem that their constituents support and are paying attention to.
  • Continue to share the message that #HomelessnessIsSolvable

Join us in demanding a future where homelessness is rare and brief when it occurs.
